What a week it has been! The Presidents of Russia and the US have met at the Helsinki Summit in order to cooperate and promote matters of international security. Perhaps one of the louder statements made by Trump was that he doesn't necessarily trust his own intelligence services in regard to Russia 'meddling it the US affairs.' There is precedent for this, such as the WMDs in the Iraq debacle - yet some mainstream media chose to frame this as a "treason summit." I took the opportunity to highlight that "each side lies on one another" - in the words of Mohammed Ali - who at the height of the Cold War stated that he did not see that which the media proclaimed. "I’ve never seen 100 nationalities getting along in peace, and done better than these people have. As far as what they believe or what they worship – that’s their business. But truth is truth – I saw nothing but peace and tranquillity. I think that this should be promoted more. These people don’t want anything but peace, they don’t want any trouble, they don’t have violence in the streets among the peoples. Their leader Mr. Brezhnev is a peaceful humble man." If history repeats itself, can't we at least listen to the lessons of the past?
