At the recent annual live Presidential conference, Wall Street Journal seemed alarmed at Russia's plans to continue developing its nuclear potential. This was specified by Putin and Defense Minister Shoigu the day before the Conference, at the Ministry of Defense Board meeting (linked at 2.47). President Putin drew attention to the fact that it was the United States that unilaterally withdrew from the ABM Treaty 1972, a linchpin to international security, precipitating a new arms race. He said the exact same thing at a previous Conference, to a BBC journalist (linked at 4.42) but it seems the message has fallen on deaf ears for many years. For those of you who haven't yet seen the full speech on the US nuclear missile defense system, positioned in Europe and Japan, and how it works in conjunction with offensive weapons against Russia, it is also linked at the end for your perusal.
